Our Story

A love of all things DIY and crafty inspired husband-and-wife team Jan and Rosanne Korteland to create Country Chic Paint in 2014. They set out with a clear and simple goal in mind: to make painting easier and more fun. The result is a unique line of eco-friendly chalk-style furniture paint that is easy to use, offers superior adhesion, and has a matte finish that’s easy to distress.

On November 4, 2015 Country Chic Paint was featured on one of Canada's most popular reality programs, Dragons' Den. That same year, our company was awarded the 2015 BC Export Award in the consumer products category. It's been through the wonderful support of our customers, retailers, staff and fans that our brand has become such a success, and we are very excited to see more and more people painting with Country Chic Paint!

Country Chic Paint is manufactured by a trusted paint supplier with over 80 years of experience, so you can rest assured that our product quality is top-notch. Country Chic Paint products are environmentally-conscious, very easy to work with, and there's little to no prep work involved. Low Environmental Impact:

Our products are tested to have low to zero VOC levels and the pigments we use are also VOC-free. Our brochures are printed on 100% recycled paper from sustainable sources. Our products comply with California Proposition 65 legislation and require no label warnings.

Recycling Programs:

Country Chic Paint is a proud member of paint recycling programs across North America to ensure that leftover paint is properly recycled and not dumped in a landfill. Check out our program!

Supporting the Local Economy:

Our products and raw materials are sourced and manufactured in North America whenever possible. Our jars and lids are manufactured in the USA by a family-owned company, and our Canadian paint manufacturing partner is also family-owned and operated.

Avoid Unnecessary Chemicals:

Our products are formulated to NOT contain any of the following: phthalates, formaldehyde, heavy metals, turpentine, terpenes, benzene, vinyl chloride, crystalline silica, acrolein, orthodichlorobenzene, isophorone, butanone, methylene chloride and alkylphenol ethoxylates.

Giving Back

We have chosen to donate a portion of our yearly proceeds to two charities (Food Banks Canada and Feeding America) that feed those in need in Canada and the USA. Many of those in our own communities go without the necessities of life, including many children, and we want to do our part in making a small difference in their lives.

Since Country Chic Paint began in January of 2014, our donations to Food Banks Canada and Feeding America have provided a total of 164,048 meals* to North Americans in need! * Every $1 provides 3 meals in Canada and 10 meals in America.

Giving Back

Food Banks Canada is a network of over 500 food banks across Canada that provide both food, and funds to those in need. Their vision is to relieve hunger today while also preventing hunger tomorrow through research, awareness, and advocacy. Each month, they assist over 850,000 Canadians, over one-third of whom are children and youth. 38% of the food they provide is fresh, such as milk, eggs, bread, and fruits and vegetables.

Giving Back

With 200 food banks and 60,000 pantries across America, Feeding America currently serves 1 in 7 Americans. They work with retailers, distributors, farmers, and manufacturers, to gather food that would otherwise go to waste and instead, distribute it to hungry families. They aim to salvage as much as possible of the 72 billion pounds of safe food that ends up in landfills each year.

The product line continues to evolve through collaboration with customers. Today Rosanne and Jan head up a growing team dedicated to providing DIY enthusiasts across North America with a superior collection of furniture paint colors, waxes, glazes, tools and other decorative finishes. Country Chic Paint remains a true family run business, with even the three Korteland kids happily pitching in. Their favorite job is folding shipping boxes.
